I am on a personal growth journey as both a husband and father that involve healing from childhood wounds (related to growing up in a working class Black family with familiar challenges) that have impacted how I show up in the household. So I really appreciate you creating space for these types of honest conversations. Very much needed.
I love this. It’s something I think about daily with my own children—especially as a mother of Black children.
There’s so much noise in the world, and I catch myself trying to make sense of all the contradictory messages… Boys who are strong but not aggressive. Sensitive but not weak. Girls who are independent but not off-putting. Strong but still “feminine,” whatever that even means.
And the truth is, my babies are still under 5.
At this stage, the focus should just be on raising kind, loving human beings.

Cannot wait for the new journals. Thank you for making an effort to keep us smiling and learning in this time.
